BUZZ Recruitment (BRC Solutions Ltd.) provides recruitment services to businesses throughout New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Islands. We also provide temporary placement labour services to businesses throughout Canterbury, employing a number of temporary workers. We specialise in the hospitality, travel and tourism sectors.
This privacy statement outlines what personal information we collect, how we store, use and share it, and how you can access or correct your personal information. We are committed to protecting your privacy when you visit our website or contact us in any way.
We deal with your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and this privacy statement.
We may occasionally update this privacy statement, to reflect changes to our practices, and will notify you when we do so. This statement was last updated on 28 August 2023.
Collecting your personal information
We collect personal information that we need in order to deliver our services to you. We collect personal information directly from you when you access our services or engage with us through our website.
Information collected from you
If you access any of our services (including registering as a candidate, responding to job advertisements, contacting us with a recruitment or business enquiry, signing up to our website or to our newsletters and/or job alerts), we will collect some or all of the following personal information:
Your name and contact details.
Age, gender and any other demographic information you provide to us.
Your address and region information.
Your work, training and qualification history.
Your bank account details, IRD Number and Kiwisaver status.
An emergency contact in case of injury, illness or other emergency circumstances.
Medical problems, disabilities or impairments that could affect your ability to do the job.
Screening question responses, when you respond to one of our job advertisements.
Referees who are willing to provide a work reference and their contact details.
Access to transport.
Any correspondence with BUZZ Recruitment staff
Any other information you choose to provide us.
Copies of Duty Manager Certificates or LCQs or other work-crucial qualifications.
Copies of a work-visa or other document/s proving your right to work in New Zealand
A Ministry of Justice Criminal History Check.
Collectively, this is known as your “personal information”.
Note: For candidates and/or employees we may also ask to sight your Photo Identification. If we are unable to sight your ID in person, we may ask for a copy of your ID to be securely sent to us. We only collect copies of photo identification such as driving licences and/or passports for the following purposes:
Once your identity is verified any copies of your Photo Identification will be destroyed. If we undertake a Ministry of Justice Criminal History Check on your behalf, we are required to have a copy of your ID and retain it for 3 months as part of the Ministry’s terms and conditions. We will destroy/delete any copies of your ID after the required 3 month period.
Using your personal information
In order to deliver our services, we use your personal information in the ways set out below. If we need to use information in a way not outlined below, we will only do so if required or permitted by law or with your authorisation.
We use your personal information to:
Provide you with any products and services you request or sign up for.
Set up or administer your job alerts and/or candidate registration.
To evaluate your qualifications, experience and suitability for permanent and/or temporary employment.
Contact you to clarify details about your qualifications, experience and suitability for permanent and/or temporary employment, or to respond to any of your enquiries.
Pay you, and pay taxes and Kiwisaver contributions on your behalf if you are employed by us.
Invoice you, or receive payment from you, for any of our services that require payment.
Analyse and inform you about the best recruitment plan for your business, including providing industry updates and information to you about relevant developments such as market salaries.
Analyse and advise you regarding career development and opportunities.
Tell you about our new products, services, promotions and campaigns. For example, if you are opted-in to email marketing communications we may email you to let you know about new content you may be interested in.
Contact you to advise you of changes to our terms and conditions, services or new products or promotions.
Email communications
All Buzz Recruitment candidate and business registrants will be signed up to automatically receive email marketing communications. For all our marketing emails, you can choose to remove yourself from receiving these communications by following the “unsubscribe” prompt at the bottom of each email.
Comments and community contributions
We may use some of your information to display when you submit a comment or review.
Sometimes, we might want to use the messages you post on Google reviews in our marketing material. If so, we will endeavour to get your permission before copying or quoting your message.
Sharing your personal information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.
However, we may share your personal information with third parties, in the following circumstances:
-If you are a job applicant, or registered candidate, we may provide your details to a client or employer as part of the recruitment process. Please note: we will always seek your express permission prior to doing this.
-We may share your details with a third party that works on our behalf to deliver our services (such as for applicant tracking and database management; for reference checking; for computing and storage purposes; and for email correspondence and marketing purposes.)
Third parties, some of which are based overseas, which we share your personal information with include:
JobAdder, our ATS and CRM provider, hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Referoo, our online referencing tool provider.
Refari, and occasionally Mail Chimp, for marketing automation and email marketing.
Google Workspace | Business Apps & Collaboration Tools for secure email and business apps.
Google Analytics and Google Ad Manager, for targeted advertising.
Social Media Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), for targeted advertising.
We do not authorise third parties to use or disclose your personal information except for the purpose of providing the service we request from them. All third parties, which we disclose your personal information to, are subject to obligations under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 to protect your information from unauthorised use or disclosure.
We do not share your personal information with any overseas providers which are not subject to the New Zealand Privacy Act. If we were to do so, we would obtain prior authorisation from you before we disclose it to any such third parties.
How we store and protect personal information
We store your personal information we collect from you in accordance with our obligations under the Privacy Act and take reasonable steps to ensure the security of your personal information. We use trusted third-party providers to store and process our data and ensure that our cloud-based platforms meet New Zealand privacy requirements.
Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as we need it in order to continue to provide you with our service(s), maintain the security of our website or as required by law.
Security
We take all reasonable steps to ensure the personal information we collect is protected against loss, unauthorised access and disclosure or any other misuse. We have a policy in place to ensure staff manage and protect BUZZ Recruitment data and devices. Access to our systems and platforms is controlled, through role-based access.
You have the right to request access to and correct any personal information we hold about you at any time.

Rights of access
You have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. When any such request is received, we will process your request as soon as possible and provide you with our decision on your request within 20 working days after your request. We will also take steps to verify your identity before providing you with any requested personal information.
Asking us to stop using your information
You can ask us to stop using your information. However, if you ask us to stop using your information, we may not be able to provide you with all our services, including offering you employment and other services such as emailing you job alerts, newsletters and updates.
Complaints
BUZZ Recruitment is committed to dealing quickly and appropriately with any privacy complaints.
