An exciting new hotel is opening in Wellington, and we're looking for an experienced General Manager to take the reins during the pre opening stage and open it with a BUZZ!

Joining ahead of opening, you'll work alongside the Regional General Manager to build the operation, recruit and develop the team, establish standards and bring the property to life.

This is a hands-on senior leadership role with full responsibility for the hotel, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage and Maintenance.

You'll be accountable for:

• Building and leading a high-performing opening team
• Delivering a memorable guest experience
• Leading and supporting Heads of Department
• Driving revenue, labour management and profitability
• Maintaining operational, compliance and property standards
• Creating a strong, connected team culture
• Keeping departments aligned and the operation running smoothly
• Identifying issues early and getting them sorted

This isn't a desk-bound GM role. You'll be visible across the hotel, comfortable jumping into the operation while keeping one eye firmly on the commercial performance.

About You

You'll already have experience leading a multi-department hotel or accommodation operation and understand how the moving parts connect.

You'll bring:

• Senior hotel, hostel or accommodation management experience
• Experience leading Heads of Department and senior teams
• Strong commercial understanding, including yielding, labour, revenue and profitability
• Confidence with budgets, rostering and cost control
• Solid Food & Beverage exposure, ideally including bars, restaurants or high-volume venues
• A practical, decisive leadership style
• Energy, personality and a genuine passion for hospitality
• The ability to build culture and create an experience that feels memorable, not manufactured

Knowledge of the Wellington accommodation market would be advantageous but isn't essential. This is a genuine opportunity to get involved before the doors open, build the operation from the ground up and put your stamp on an exciting new Wellington hotel.
